Vayle Publishes Research Studies on FOI Trends and Challenges in Ontario Municipal Entities
Toronto, ON – October 17, 2023
Vayle, a leading provider of information access and compliance solutions for the public sector, is pleased to announce the release of two comprehensive research studies that delve into the evolving landscape of Freedom of Information (FOI) practices in Ontario. These unique studies offer critical insights into the key trends and challenges faced by Ontario municipal entities and police agencies related to their FOI programs.
As part of our ongoing commitment to advancing transparency and accountability, Vayle undertook extensive research to empower municipal entities with the knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of FOI requests in the digital age.
The two distinct studies include:
- Ontario Municipalities FOI Research Study: This study provides an in-depth analysis of FOI practices within Ontario municipalities. It explores the evolving demands placed on local government bodies and uncovers trends in FOI request volumes, response times, and common challenges faced by municipal entities.
- Ontario Police Agencies FOI Research Study: Focused on the specific requirements and challenges faced by law enforcement agencies, this study delves into the unique intricacies of FOI requests within the Ontario Police community. It provides valuable insights into the challenges, best practices, and emerging trends in this sector.
The findings from both studies were unveiled at two prominent conferences:
- The Ontario Municipalities FOI Research Study was presented at the 2023 AMCTO (Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks, and Treasurers of Ontario) Annual Conference.
- The Ontario Police Agencies FOI Research Study was shared at the 2023 Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police FOIPN (Freedom of Information and Privacy Network) Annual Conference.
These presentations were met with enthusiastic responses and have generated discussions on how to better address the evolving FOI landscape in both municipal and law enforcement contexts.
“We are excited to provide these insightful research studies to the Ontario community,” said Shaun McIver, CEO at Vayle. “We believe that the information contained within these reports will be invaluable for organizations seeking to adapt to changing FOI dynamics.”
The complete research reports are now available to public sector entities. To obtain a summary of either research report, please contact [email protected].
