About the Role
We are seeking an entrepreneurial Product Manager to help bring our vision of building the leading information access and privacy platform for the public sector to life. In this role, you will drive and prioritize our product roadmap, turning the product vision into actionable tasks for development. You will work directly with the Founder, who has led global technology businesses for large companies and successfully exited his last tech business. You will also work closely with the development team and take ownership of new platform modules, including our upcoming AI-powered Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) platform.
Our ideal candidate is a rising product management leader with experience in a smaller, agile tech company. You bring flexibility to your approach and are comfortable stepping into product support and solution engineering roles as needed. In our fast-paced environment, you’ll adapt quickly, making impactful decisions and helping bring new features and products to market at a rapid pace.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Vision Execution: Collaborate to achieve the vision of building the leading public sector information access and privacy platform. You will prioritize roadmap initiatives and identify key features that align with this goal, keeping an execution-focused approach to ensure timely delivery of product objectives.
- Compliance with Privacy Legislation: Gain a deep understanding of privacy legislation at both the province/state level and adjust the platform to meet regional requirements. Experience or a strong interest in public sector privacy legislation and Privacy-by-Design principles would be an asset.
- Privacy-by-Design Implementation: Ensure the platform’s development aligns with Privacy-by-Design principles, integrating privacy protections into all stages of product development and meeting compliance requirements.
- Documentation & Development Support: Document clear, detailed requirements for the development team, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications, to ensure seamless and efficient execution.
- Jira & Backlog Management: Own the product backlog, defining and prioritizing user stories, and overseeing Jira to keep projects moving efficiently, maintaining an execution-focused mindset.
- AI-Powered Product Management: Embrace the use of AI tools to streamline, enhance, and scale product management tasks, making impactful data-driven decisions.
- Customer-Focused Flexibility: Engage directly with customers, acting as a Solutions Engineer and providing part-time technical support. You will prioritize customer needs and feedback as part of the product lifecycle, ensuring that execution aligns with customer expectations.
About You
- Experience & Leadership: You have 3-5 years of product management experience, ideally within a smaller, agile tech company, and you are ready to step up as an emerging leader. You understand what it takes to scale a product in a fast-paced environment where rapid decision-making and adaptability are crucial.
- Privacy-by-Design & Compliance Knowledge: You’re familiar with Privacy-by-Design principles and have a strong interest in public sector privacy legislation. Experience working with compliance requirements or privacy-focused products is a plus.
- Execution-Focused & Detail-Oriented: You bring an execution-focused approach, prioritizing tasks effectively and ensuring projects stay on track. Your attention to detail and organizational skills make you adept at keeping the development team aligned on goals and deliverables.
- Customer-Centric & Flexible: You’re comfortable engaging with customers and adapting your approach to meet their needs. As a flexible, hands-on contributor, you’re able to shift between product support and product management seamlessly.
- Curiosity & Innovation: You have a natural curiosity and drive to learn, experiment, and solve problems. You’re excited about using AI tools to enhance the product management function and scale our solutions to better serve our customers.
- Toronto-Based: This role requires a minimum of three days per week in our Toronto office, supporting in-person collaboration in a fast-growing, dynamic environment.
